Tales from the streets of Richmond
Fresh from a one-gig whirlwind tour atop the new Penny Lane, The English Channel, Richmond's own British Invasion cover band, will hold a CD-release party on Friday and Saturday night at the Boulevard Deli.
The band (Bob Quarles on keyboards, Greg Marrs on guitar, bassist Richard Cowles, drummer Mike Edwards and Julie Quarles, vocals) will showcase songs from their first CD from 8 p.m. to 1 p.m. both nights. The new CD features music from The Moody Blues, Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames, The Animals, Cilla Black and others.
The English Channel, which plays songs from the '60s and '70s ('all English, all the time'), performed on the roof of Penny Lane, reminescent of the Beatles' 'Let It Be' in the '60s, to a lunchtime crowd on Monday as part of the pub's new opening at Fifth and Franklin streets.

In late Febrary, I'll be teaching a course at St. Catherine's. The course title is: INTRODUCTION TO THE ESSENTIALS OF ROCK AND ROLL - 1955-1977
I'll use this blog as a tool to construct the course
